- Mark the Lion; Luke the Ox; Matthew the Angel; and John the Eagle
- Centering a square step-cut amethyst weighing approximately 1.54 carats
- Transparent medium purple in color and set in a milgrain bezel
- Reverse is inscribed 'Bishop Freeman's Cross Presented by Mrs. Freeman"
- The cross was given to Bishop James Edward Freeman on the day of his consecration
- Inscribed 'J.E.F. from A.C.E. September, 29, 1923'
- Bishop Freeman served as bishop of Episcopal Diocese of Washington from 1923-1943
- He officiated at memorial services for figures such as Warren G. Harding, Woodrow Wilson, and William Howard Taft
